My Dear Miss Addams

The Massachusetts W.I.L. is again in the [limelight] as the enclosed clippings will show you.

Tom Harrison is to debate Lt. Hurley in early February, just for the W.I.L. I think a delegation of well informed members escorted by a lawyer in good and regular standing will be more effective; now can you send me any helpful information about the so called "slackers oath" how it happened to be brought in, and when, and the vote on it? I have written the Washington office but Miss Detzer [page 2] may be away, or busy about something else and not feel the importance of an immediate reply and if we are to do anything it must be at once. This man is evidently put up to this by the "Public Interest League" or something higher up, for he came willingly to the [parade] committee meeting and was all ready to cooperate, then like a [God] had a change of heart.

I am enjoying my sister Amy right now for she will be in Chicago next week seeing you, and other friends.

We are all looking forward eagerly to your Boston visit and hope our plans will be made entirely to your satisfaction if you have any suggestions do please let us know.

Most sincerely yours
Martha Helen Elliott
