My dear Miss Addams:

We shall be very happy to take care of all books that come to us for the new Sociology and Economics library. After they are assembled I will make a still hunt for a suitable room for their installation. Some of these days I hope that we will have an adequate provision for all our books. In my recent application to Phi Beta Kappa I see we are expected to have a modern library of 25,000 books. I think the books could be easily acquired if we had the place for them; in fact, with our 12,500 I think we can easily count on an allowance from the Rockford Public Library which is only a ten-minute walk from the college. This library has over 100,000 volumes. But in the meantime we should make definite plans for 25,000 on our own campus.

With best wishes, I am

Cordially yours,

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
800 S. Halsted St.,
Chicago, Ill.
