Dear Miss Addams:

Following my conversation with you yesterday, in which you stated that the income of Hull House Association is still about $3000.00 short of meeting the out-go for the current year, I have conferred with Mr. Avery and Mr. Rosenwald, and we have agreed to send you a thousand dollars a piece as a special Christmas gift to Hull House Association to assure its keeping within its income this year.

I enclose herewith my check for $1000.00.
