Statement in Support of Flappers, November 30, 1925

Although Jane Addams is 65 years old, she carries a banner in the parade of modern youth.

“Oh, the youth of today is all right,” she said yesterday. “The modern girl is too much abused. Give youth its freedom. The girl of today is healthier and broader in her new clothes and her bobbed hair. I’ll wager there was a row when young men began to clip their hair in the seventeenth century.”

Miss Addams spent yesterday with a cousin, Charles Addams Young, 6029 Wornall road.

She will leave Kansas City this morning.
