My dear Miss Addams:
On behalf of the World Unity Foundation I am writing to ask if you will consent to allow your name to be used as a member of our National Committee. This will not involve any financial responsibility or the giving of any time to the work. It simply means that in allowing your name to be used in this way, you are giving your approval and moral support to the aims and purposes for which the Foundation exists.
The World Unity Foundation is essentially an adult educational movement which came into being about a year ago through the efforts of a small group of men and women who were especially interested in the need of a better understanding between races, nations, classes and creeds that might lead to a more intelligent [cooperation] in the solution of present world problems.
This movement has recently received its Charter of Incorporation from Albany. In section three of the Certificate of Incorporation its purpose is stated as follows:
"The purpose for which the Corporation is formed is to maintain facilities for promoting the ethical humanitarian and spiritual ideals and principles which create harmony and understanding among religions, races, nations and classes; and for [cooperating] with special educational scientific and religious bodies working for these ends."
The names of the Incorporators and the Trustees who are to manage the affairs of the Corporation for the first year of its existence or until their successors shall have been elected and qualified are as follows:

I enclose herewith a statement describing the methods employed by the Foundation in its threefold educational activities and also printed material giving in detail the work of the World Unity Conferences; the Summer Institute of World Unity; and a sample copy of World Unity Magazine. [page 2]
The Foundation is financed by a few interested individuals who prefer to remain anonymous but whose contributions to the Foundation are given unconditionally, to be used according to the best judgment of the Board of Trustees. It is not planned to make any general appeal for funds to carry on this educational work though the Board reserves the right to approach interested individuals of means as the demands for the expansion of the work increase. It is possible that the Board may vote to establish a membership basis for the Foundation.
