WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM
12, Rue du Vieux-Collège, Geneva, Switzerland
TO EXECUTIVE AND CONSULTATIVE MEMBERS AND NATIONAL SECTIONS.
August 17, 1927.
Dear Friend,
The Executive Committee is meeting in Geneva from the morning of the 9th of September through the 13th. The meetings will be held in the garden or in the library of the Maison Internationale.
In order that the work of the house may be carried on and the guests be cared for, the meetings can only occur at the following hours: from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 2:30 to 5:30.
It was intended originally to hold the meeting at Gland school, but so many of our members have objected to this that it has been decided to change to the Maison. However, this does not mean that it may not be preferable for those who come to the meetings to live at Gland for it is very difficult to get rooms in Geneva at this time. It is possible to take a train from Gland at 9:09 and to return to the school in the evening by a train at 6:40. The round trip to Gland costs 3.25 francs. Board at the school is 7 francs making a total of 10 francs. Nowhere in Geneva will it be possible to get board at less than this rate. There will be the further advantage of having a quiet night in the country after a strenuous day in Geneva, with a chance of a swim in the lake. If at least fifteen people stay at the school we can get a char-à-banc back and forth, night and morning, and it will not cost more than the train and tram fare to and from the Maison and would be a delightful ride.
Please let us know at once whether you wish to be [accommodated] at Gland or prefer to remain in Geneva. It will be very difficult to find places here because of the League of Nations Assembly but if you will let us know we will do our best for you. All the rooms in the Maison [page 2] have long been taken. The best we can manage will be to give the Executive Committee a picnic lunch at one o'clock each day.
Enclosed please find a tentative program. We should be glad of any suggestions or criticisms but we beg you to notice how crowded the program is and how little time there is for carrying through all we have planned. Therefore, unless the matter is of urgent and vital importance we suggest that no more be put on the present program.
Please be sure if you are not sending a representative from your National Section, to send us a report expressing your opinion covering the subjects on the agenda. We call your attention particularly to the last minutes sent you and the proposal made therein concerning "Pax International." If you wish "Pax" continued you must say so. Study the matter and give us your opinion.
Trusting that as many as possible will attend this very important meeting, with all good wishes,
Sincerely yours,
