March 9th, 1926.
My dear Miss Addams:
This is the first time I have found it possible to reach you by letter, to assure you that the fifty dollars has been going to [Madeleine] Doty regularly each month from our treasury. I had not remembered seeing it on Mrs. Taussig's account as a separate item. It was lumped with the Bulletin, and for the moment I had confused it with the amount which Mrs. Spencer had collected last year, and which I know had not been forthcoming this year. I hope the matter has not given you any anxiety.
I could not get down to the steamer to see you off, as I had hoped to do. I trust you are having a delightful cruise and a wonderful rest. My warm greeting to Mrs. Smith, and much love to your own dear self.
Every affectionately,
