Dear Miss Addams,
In the morning issue of the Sioux City Journal you are the subject of an editorial. You are quoted as recommending the disarmament of all policemen. In fact I enclose the editorial for your consideration. Would it be asking too much for you to make a statement as to what led up to this rework or assertion?
I am one of the small Peace party known as the International League for Peace and Freedom and to say that we are having a rather hard time of it is putting it mildly. The American Legion and D.A.R. would shoot us at sunrise some glad morning if they [page 2] had their way. Just yesterday the D.A.R. made a gallant fight and did defeat some who are prominent in the League of [Women] Voter's because they were members of the Peace League.
I hope you will favor us with a reply -- we need your support -- don't fail us. We are about on our last legs to say the least.
Most sincerely and cordially
