My dear Miss North: --
May I assure you of my very sincere appreciation of your generous check which came yesterday. I always care most for money which comes to us from people who know the House well and I am sure you know how grateful I am, not only for the check, but for all the work you put in month after month.
Our endowment fund is growing very slowly but I am afraid if this cold weather continues I shall avail myself of your permission to use your check for relief.
Thanking you again and with cordial greetings to your Mother, I am
Sincerely yours,
Jane Addams. [signed]
