3/4/27.
Dear Miss Balch,
Thank you very much for your kind letter of Feb. 10th regarding Miss Jane Addams' picture and material of her life and work. I am sorry to say that the above has not been sent to me from Hull House, as you suggested it would be. I begin to think there is more family likeness between your fellow countrymen and the Austrians than is generally supposed. Be that as it may, I have a certain tenacity which leads me to proffer my request yet again, hoping that you are the person to see it carried out.
Thank you also for the other names and addresses. The address of Mrs. Henry Villard was not attached. I will write to the other peace workers. It is nice to know there are so many of them. I feel my fighting blood thrill when it occurs to me what a long and hopeless fight we have in front of us and how many will go down before the goal is reached "when the multitude make virtue of the faith they had denied."
May I also ask for your picture and details of your pacific career?
I have just had the great pleasure of receiving such details from a Hungarian pacifist. That is a great word. She is about the only one who stirs up any dust in her own country. You will know the name of Anna Kéthly?
With kindest regards,
Yours most sincerely,
B. B. Hoysted. [signed]
