Chicago -- Feb. 25, 1927.
My dear Mrs. Rich,
The situation -- is this in regard to the West Side Junior High School -- The Board of Education has tried on several occasions to buy the Hebrew Institute property. The instincts of their race always comes at the front -- when an agreement is [nearly] made, -- and they raise the price.
As I understand it the [Board] wishes very much to obtain this [property] but will not deal with the owners as they have been met in past (page 2) negotiations.
Perhaps some third party could come in on the deal -- and in that way -- the Board could purchase the property.
Let us rejoice on the actions of the full Council!
Yours with sincerity --
Mrs. John D. Evelyn Thornton McCune.
-- I must get a bottle of ink -- as you see.
