My dear Dorothy Detzer:

Emily Balch has sent me your letter. I think you would better send the deferred [weekend] cable from Washington to [Madeleine] Doty. I should be very happy to pay for it if you will forward the bill to me.

I did not realize the matter had been left with her. I know it is better to do the collecting from this side although it might be advantageous for her to stir up some of the old delinquents we have failed to get. I will wait to hear from you before I compose the letter you suggest.

The enclosed circular seems to me very suggestive. I will send you some more if you care to use them.
