WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

Dear Dorothy Detzer,

I am quite unwilling to head the delegation you suggest for the White House because I am sure that the present state of feeling between the U.S.A and France would make Pres't Coolidge quite persona non grata to the French government and that we would accomplish nothing. We might discuss the situation at our board meeting sending requests to other of our sections for action.

You have doubtless ↑heard↓ from Emily Balch who perhaps ↑apparently↓ does not feel so strongly as I do in regard to it ↑and perhaps you could work out a national plan↓

I am sending this off [hurried] and am always affectionately yours
Jane Addams [signed]
