My dear Miss Addams,

[Enclosed] I return the atrocious Press [outings] which show that the militarists claim Armistice Day also as exclusively their own. Of course, why should they be more modest in this regard than in any other? I, personally have quite novel experiences with some of the American militarists. Having waited in vain for a public defense from those who should be my natural allies I grasped the chance opportunity that offered itself last August and September. I got a military commission -- one Colonel of the regular army and two Colonels  and a Captain of the Reserve, Officers of the Chicago Military Intelligence Association to [investigate] my case personally. As a result of several personal interviews I have their written statement in hand and their promise to give it widest publicity.

These personal interviews gave me an extraordinary chance to study the psychology of the American militarists, which is very different from the psychology of our militarists. Mr. Elmer Davis, with whom I also had an [interview] of three hours and a half did me the justice to secure the publication of 1100 words of [correction]. He and Mr. J.J. O'Neill whom he brought along assured me that Lochner told them the stories which he mentions in the review and which are not out of Lochner's book? Your view that Lochner wrote honestly is [exaggeratedly] generous! He lies deliberately, and [omits] deliberately.

I got the Hungarian begging letter addressed to you and to Mrs. Frankl. Mott Gunther. [Illegible] [the] letters are [word] for word identical begging material with which to make this work [well.] She mentions that she is addressing also people in the other rich countries. It is the regulation type of letters of this nature.

I shall be very glad to send a polite refusal in Hungarian, if you want me to. Kindly let me know. She would not understand anything but Hungarian. Hoping that you do not suffer too much from the after-effect of your accident.

Very sincerely yours
