Description

The United States Marine Corps is a branch of the United States armed forces that employs combined arms for amphibious and expeditionary operations. The Marines became a part of the United States Navy in 1834, and historically served as infantry units aboard naval vessels. They were involved in the Spanish-American War, the Philippine-American War, the Boxer Rebellion, and campaigns in Mexico and the Caribbean in the early 20th century and played an important role in World War I.
