Dear Miss Addams --
It was good of you to write as you did. My mother's interest in Hull House, & in the Consumers' League, stands among my earliest recollections -- so early, in fact, that my first impressions of [page 2] those ventures were not of good causes, but of things to which she went away & from which the came back. We rejoiced at the latter, but we did not feel at all generous about the former, in those days.
Later we came [page 3] to understand those things better, & to share in her interest in them, & in those who sponsored them, -- particularly in the affection & admiration she always felt for you. She would have been glad that you wrote [page 4] as you did.
Sincerely yours,
Amy Walker Field.
