California Federation of Women’s Clubs
San Francisco, March 30th.
My dear Miss Addams: --
You have no doubt received a communication ere this from Mrs. George Shadburne Jr. of this city whom I have interested in our organization and the creating of a Section in Mexico. I have noticed we have no section there, and I think it very important that we should have.
I have found Mrs. Shadburne very enthusiastic in whatever work she is engaged, and a woman of considerable means well known in San Francisco. A bit visionary perhaps, but with all sincere and dependable.
I deeply regret being unable to attend the annual meeting in Chicago next month of the W.I.L.P.F. I should judge from the circular letter just received from Mrs. Spencers pen, that she does not intend to retain the Chair another year. I am very sorry. I think it will be a mistake to hold an election this year and feel that we should follow the trend of the times and elect [illegible] our officers once in two years.
I hope we will have a large and enthusiastic meeting.
With most cordial good wishes for your health, I am,
Most sincerely yours,
Katherine D. Cumberson. [signed]
