Dear Miss Addams

I have read your book and I only wish all could live over the life in it as I did, and yet so much was new even to me. I love your way of writing and your gentle touch when you talk of Wilson or of the wall of prejudice and so called patriotism that tried so hard to hurt your message. Thanks for the satisfaction it will be to me to own and refer to “Peace and Bread.”

I am very much out of touch with the W.I.L. Since my horrid experience in Washington I have returned to my school work and seen nothing and heard little of the activities going on from Washington headquarters. Do write Mrs. Leach what you want. Where shall headquarters be? Who is the best one to take the leadership? Mrs. Leach and Mrs. Mead and I talked things over yesterday and light and [judgment] is needed from you.

Affectionately

Mabel Hyde Kittredge [signed]
