Paul Underwood Kellogg to Jane Addams, August 23, 1922

August 23, 1922.

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull's Cove,

Dear Miss Addams:

I am sorry to say that we slipped up in getting Mr. Byron to undertake the building trades work for us in Chicago -- just why I am still something at a loss to know, but the enclosed correspondence explains as far as I understand it.

We seemed to be in a pocket in regard to it until today, but to my good fortune I learned that Alexander M. Bing was to be in Chicago in October and he has consented to undertake the commission for us. There is no one outside of Chicago who could bring his very remarkable background and spirit to it and I am hopeful that we may count on the cooperation of all our Chicago friends for him.

You may be interested in the enclosed Australian letter. I am very happy to receive Miss Sheepshanks article.
