WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM
My dear Mr Kellogg;
I am quite shocked to take a check from The Survey. My first impulse was to send it back but I think that instead I will send it over to the new Federation of Settlements, our first international venture in that line. This check however must pay for the three articles.
I am ↑was just↓ sending a half of Chap 7 to the editor of the Christian Century having taken out all that appeared in The New Republic. I had no idea that you would want it until your letter came [today], [illegible] I am therefore sending it in this letter, hoping that you won't want it and will promptly send it back but if you do want it, of course it is yours.
Hastily yours
Jane Addams. [signed]
