May 9th

My dear Miss Addams --

I hear you are having a hard time getting your money for Vienna and Miss Balch. Please know that the National Office is helping you all it can. We are borrowing money rather than call on members at this time for fear of keeping a dollar from you. From now until June 4th I personally am going to take charge of all International matters in regard to Congress etc. This will leave the U.S. section work to Miss Crook. I would like therefore all mail about sailings to be sent to me.

There is absolutely no chance for anyone to get on The New Amsterdam June 4th who has not now her sailings. The Imperator which was to have sailed June 2nd has been called [page 2] off (I cannot find why) and that means that 600 first class passengers are trying to get onto other boats, one being yours, sailing that week. Miss Balch has written me asking for reports about specific organizations working for Peace in this country. I have such reports and wish you would appoint someone for me to turn all such material over to. Preferably one who sails with you June 4th. How about Miss Conklin? Please let me know in a week who of the enclosed list have not paid.

Affectionately

Mabel Kittredge
