Dear Miss Addams:
I have been very unfortunate thus far in failing to persuade you to write for Harper's Bazar. I hope that this year I may be more fortunate.
It will give me great pleasure if you will write a special article for our Christmas number, to be published in November. The article should be in the nature of a talk to women, pointing out various ways in which they may make themselves helpful in the community -- those in the small towns [page 2] no less than those in the big cities. I would like a paper of 3500 words, for which we will be glad to pay you $150.
May I hear from you at your earliest convenience?
Sincerely yours,
Elizabeth Jordan [signed]
