Biographical Text

Hannah Kent Schoff was president of the National Congress of Mothers from 1902-1920. She saw the addition of 29 state member branches (8 to 37), as well as contributed to the organization's journal, Child Welfare. Schoff was one of the women credited with the heavy lobbying for a distinct juvenile court system in Philadelphia. When the bill passed, it became the second separate juvenile court system after Chicago. Schoff died in 1940.

Schoff married Frederick Schoff in 1874. They had seven children: Wilfred, Edith, Louise, Leonard, Harold, Eunice, and Albert.
