CHICAGO, Dec 6/1919
Miss Jane Addams,Hull House, City.
My dear Miss Addams,
You will understand, I am sure, that it is solely due to the pressure of work incidental to organizing the Woman's Committee of the above in addition to my other work, that a letter to you was delayed until [today though] I was very anxious to convey two things to you, in both of which I am supported by the unanimous vote of our Executive Committee.
Firstly; to extend to you our deep thanks for coming to us last Sunday when another engagement was already on your calendar [&] giving us so valuable a talk as to furnish us all with excellent campaign materials [&]: Secondly to request your permission to place your name on our literature [&] stationary as "Honorary Chairman" please.
Need I add that your consent would mean immeasurable encouragement to me [&] all of my workers that we shall ↑not↓ ask nor burden you [&] will thank you for an early [&] we sincerely hope an affirmative reply? Remaining, Devotedly yours,
Nannie A. Reis
