My dear Mary
We have had a splendid Congress, everything passing off as smoothly as possible from the outside & from within great good will and some moments of real greatness it seemed to us. We had women from fifteen countries and some very distinguished ones from England.
All the time I have been in Switzerland, I have thought of the journey we [page 2] made here so many years ago when George came over to spend his vacation with his mother, with Sarah Hostetter and me. Perhaps these bright pictures may recall some thing [although] I am afraid not. The trees blossoming everywhere add a great deal and we have seen the [rose glow] on the Alps twice.
We leave for Paris tomorrow in a delegation to present our resolutions to the [page 3] people there -- and some new plans are being prepared of course I will write you later. We had five days in the devastated regions of France so that this undestroyed blooming little country seems perfectly heavenly by contrast.
Please give my love to Laura and the others. I am always devotedly yours
Jane Addams
Please write me sometime
