My dearest Lady

I found that the building schemes needed pushing and that I had to come directly back from New Orleans so I arrived here this morning.  I am so sorry that I didn't write from the South. I had a charming visit and quite lost my heart to the city and the plantations. It seemed to me quite superior to California or Florida. You were awfully good to write me and I am quite homesick for you, the quiet places and the chance to write a book. Always yrs Jane Addams
