Jane [Adams].

My dear Miss [Addams], --

I cannot resist the impulse to compliment you for your great courage and devotion to truth and honor in these troublesome times. You are upholding our best traditions as a people and nation in a way perhaps a man cannot do. God grant that [contumely] and ridicule from a poisoned news service may not thwart the good of your patriotic service.

W. P. Burbank,
Cleveland O.
