Biographical Text

Edward Tilden was a successful businessman who rose up through the ranks at the Drover's Bank to serve as its president and director. He served on the boards of a number of Chicago corporations. Tilden was a three-time member of the Chicago Board of Education and was the president of the School Board in 1905-06. Tilden died of septicemia due to an infection on his tongue that spread through his glands and throat in 1915.

Tilden married Annie Evenhuis in 1883. The couple had 2 sons, Avery and Louis.
