International Committee of Women for Permanent Peace
My dear Mr. Levinson:
After telephoning your office I developed an attack of [bronchitis] so that I have been in bed almost all of the time since. I am not staying at Hull House this winter owing to somewhat slow convalescence and live at 12 West Walton Place with my friend, Miss Mary Rozet Smith.
I had hoped to interest you in the Congress of Women After the War for which, as you see by the enclosed letter, we are laboriously collecting funds.
Pacifists are rather few these days and even those few are not by any means all interested in a Woman’s Congress, the very time and place of which, by the nature of the case, are at present indefinite. Perhaps you will find time to read the enclosed circular letter which we sent out to the members of the Woman’s Peace Party and will let me come into your office some day before you leave the city to talk to you about it.
Hoping I am not presuming upon your interest in what pacifists like to call “a better world order,” I am
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
