My dear Miss [Addams],

Just a word of greeting with best wishes for your speedy and permanent recovery. And while I am writing may I say that through length of years you have been one of the extraordinary mercies of God to me for which I have given thanks upon every remembrance.

It must be a source of immeasurable comfort to you just to recall your acknowledged place among the really constructive factions for good not only in Chicago but the world over. And just be happy about it. In my own work here I have seen the helpful influence of your personality and [work], and how you have reinforced [page 2] all the other agencies securing human well being.

Please don't bother to answer this. I am writing just to relieve my own heart and to give myself the pleasure of a greeting to one for whom I have reverent affection.

Sincerely yours

Charles M. Stuart.
