John Heyl Vincent to Jane Addams, February 24, 1902

REEL0004_0272.jpg

Dear Miss Addams:

Your praise abashes me. Compared with your own my work is scarce worthy of mention. But that you speak congratulatory words comforts me and gives me hope. I believe in working peoplerich and poor. Both classes need the ministry of Faith & Knowledge & Taste and — Service. To have and not to help is not to have in any true sense.  May the good God gird us for further service!

Yours most sincerely & gratefully,
John H. Vincent
