Ernest Hatch Wilkins Papers

Description

The papers of Oberlin College President Ernest Hatch Wilkins consist largely of correspondence and files relating to peace initiatives and organizations supported by Wilkins in the years prior to World War II, especially the Oberlin-based Commission on the Coordination of Efforts for Peace. Wilkins' voluminous correspondence includes 85 boxes of general correspondence (1927-46) and 30 boxes of personal correspondence (1941- 1946) between the president and Oberlin students serving in the armed forces. Also present are files on individual faculty, college buildings, external organizations, and miscellaneous subjects. The collection contains a small amount of Wilkins' talks and writings.
