My dear Miss Addams;

May I ask what progress you are making on your book, and when you think you will be able to finish it? I should much like to see the book printed and fairly brought to the attention of the public before the preparations for the next presidential campaign divert public attention from books. I have a feeling that the time immediately before, as well as during, a presidential campaign is, on the whole, an unfavorable one for publication.

Yours very truly,
