Jane Addams to Sarah Alice Addams Haldeman, August 9, 1912

My dear Alice

You may have seen by the papers that I have become a full fledged "bull moose" and this morning accepted a place on the National Committee. I am sending you a copy of speech of acceptance which really explains my attitude [page 2] better than anything else does.

Poor Weber was only able to stay at home for two nights. It became almost too much to be home that he should add this [keen] [disappointment] to everything else

I go to Bar Harbor on [page 3] Monday and will probably be there [through] most of Sept.

With love to Marcet and yourself. Always your loving sister Jane Addams.
