I am very sorry that you are unable to continue on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Theatre Society, because I know how vital your interest is in the [theater] as a possible instrument in the unbuilding of the community.

The Board regretfully accepted your resignation, and I would have written you before except that I know you were out of town.
