WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

My dear Friend --

We are going to bring up the entire subject of Mrs [Brown's] manifesto at the annual meeting in Phila. Oct 26".

I have sent on your letter to the national president Mrs ↑Lucy Biddle↓ Lewis and I suspect you & I & she agree on the subject.

We can only say that Mrs [Brown] is supposed to send out information but to take no sides and that her letters have not been O.K.'d by the national League nor any committee thereof. The whole [page 2] Washington plan has had its difficulties from the first.

I am getting this letter off hastily but it goes with much affection for you and the family.

Always devotedly yours

Jane Addams.

I am sending you a copy of my book ([although] I think I did send one) which describes so nearly as I may, my attitude on the League of Nations. Of course on the whole I am for it.
