Description

The Harlem Race Track, originally known as the Harlem Jockey Club, was opened in 1894 by fellow gamblers George Hankins and John Condon. It was located in Harlem, now Forest Park, Illinois. The track held horse races until 1905 when Chicago banned horse racing; going forward, the track was used for automobile racing until the state banned all racing in 1905.
