My dear Alice
I am [enclosing] Esther's address in Chicago where she is settled in a little flat overlooking Douglas Park on the West side. The children are fairly well, were very well until the last few days. Charlie has a place with Sears, Roebuck & co, starting near the bottom but with good prospects.
I am [enclosing] her address as well as Sarah's. The latter seems to like her new vocation very well indeed and is evidently doing very well.
Mrs [Mussey] is rather a peculiar woman but a perfectly good one, she has been at HH a great deal during the Greek Plays which she managed. Her mother comes today to be here during the suffrage Ass'n. She is a very able woman, her father is Pres't of the Prison Ass'n, and were known in charitable circles [page 2] as is the entire family. Mrs [Mussey] is delicate and nervous but beyond that I should think perfectly harmless. I never know what you mean when you make these remarks about my attitude to Marcet — but there is no use in trying to write about it.
Little Jane is better but not very flourishing, [Winthrop] is all right [although] his mother still has to have her leg dressed every day.;
Laura has been awfully good in getting Esther settled, she has worked day after day and the entire flat shows her work. I wish you might see it while is so pretty and new.
Please excuse pencil and believe me always your loving sister J.A.
