My dear Mrs. Taussig:
I have delayed replying to your letter although I have thought of you much of the time since it came.
I do not believe there is anything we can do until the armistice has been arranged for and I hope that our December meeting will be in ample time. If things move more rapidly than the "experts" now seem to anticipate, I shall go to Washington and stay there so as to be able to send the cables promptly to the other National Organizations.
Of course you saw that the meeting of the Teachers' Organization was postponed. I have agreed to speak for them in St. Louis Saturday, December twenty-eighth, in the morning, but I will see you before then. It would be very nice if we could go east together. My first appointment is in New York, Saturday morning, the thirtieth of November. Would that be long ahead for you. Of course it is possible that the Thirty-five will meet that week in New York. We are trying to arrange for the date now.
How does Mrs. Buckley feel about Roger Baldwin's sentence? I suppose as things go, that he came off pretty well.
