Dear Miss Addams:

I cannot find that I ever sent you a copy of my book, You and I, when it was published two years ago. If I did not, it was a mere inadvertence which I trust you will overlook.

Anyway I am [page 2] sending a copy now, with my most enthusiastic thanks for your wonderful volume -- which appeals [dually] to both my literary and my social sense.

Also let me wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
