My dear Mr. Ickes,

I have always considered Mr. Thompson an ornament to the party and am quite distressed that he should be disciplined. However, I have missed the last few meetings. I am venturing to send this on to you in the hope that you have more wisdom than I have.

I am so discouraged about the Non-Partisan meeting that I am almost ready to give it up.

Very sincerely yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
Mr. Harold Ickes,
Chicago.
