One of the matters which will come before the meeting of the Legislative Reference Committee on Monday is the advisability of our sending out to the different states before February 12th, standard uniform acts on certain subjects pertaining to state legislation on which a definite stand was taken in the National Progressive platform.
Without committing myself as to the advisability of this step, as it has been urged very strongly, Mr. Herbert Knox Smith has consented to examine the existing acts and constitutional amendments on the initiative and referendum and I have consented to go over again the acts which I prepared for Pennsylvania on child labor and the hours of work for women.
We will each of us make a separate report on our respective subjects to the Committee on Monday. In the meantime I am sending you herewith a copy of the hours of work for women act and the child labor act, to which I have just referred. If possible please look them over before the meeting on Monday.
Mr. Van Rensselaer will make a report on his trip west and also a report on his trip to Washington. I have asked him to go to Washington Thursday and Friday of this week to confer with progressive congressman with a view of arranging for a joint meeting between the congressman and the members of the Committee in Washington or early part of February.
