Biographical Text

George Albert Carpenter was a Harvard-trained lawyer. In 1906 he was appointed to serve as a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Later in 1909, Carpenter was nominated for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He resigned in 1933 and went back into private practice. Carpenter died in 1944.
