Dear Executive Member,

Re Rosika Schwimmer.

The enclosed letter speaks for itself. It was sent me by Rosika Schwimmer to which she had attached a little letter addressed to the board of the W.I.L. which reads as follows:

"Will you kindly take note of the letter I am sending and remove my name from your lists. Should the W.I.L. at any time come alive again to its full pacific duties, I shall be ready to rejoin it."

Re China.

We have had a letter from Miss Addams which says that she and Miss Balch are making efforts to secure some additional funds for the China mission and they they are recommending the U.S. Section to appropriate the cost of the [expenses] of the delegates across the American continent if they go that way or an equivalent amount if they go a different way.

Miss Addams says that she has not had an answer yet from Mrs. Sun [Yat-Sen] to whom she sent our letter to the Chinese women and that she is writing her again. She has had a letter from Mrs. Chen Zen from [Peking], a copy of which is herewith attached. Miss Addams further says she has not heard from Mrs. [Clark] and is writing her again in the fear her letter may have miscarried. She feels that Mrs. [Clark] will be a particularly desirable delegate as she combines the advantage of a rare knowledge of the Chinese situation at the same time upholding our point of view -- Also there is the advantage that she will be on the spot and can prepare the way for those who are to follow. Both Miss Addams and Miss Balch vote with Lida Heymann to use the Reserve Fund for the China mission.

Yours sincerely,

Madeleine Z. Doty [signed]
International Secretary.
