WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

My dear [Madeleine] Doty --

I am very grateful for your full letter about Mr [Tibbetts] visit. I do hope that we are coming out. Of course the Ex. Com. would have to decide the final disposition of the money -- if we get it!

I quite agree with about Prof Earle. Emily Balch has written you before this I think, in regard to the money for his ocean journey, so I hope that will come out quite all right.

The Chinese delegation of course, is a matter of judgment. The U.S.A. didn't recommend Mrs Grover Clark because she was there ↑i.e. in China↓ but because she is the best possible person in their judgment & knows much of China. [page 2]

She has just been in the U.S.A. and will probably come again as they cross often. It would be nice if the delegation could return next summer via Honolulu when we are having our interim meeting there -- if they do not leave until Sept. I should think that that might be possible.

Hastily yours Jane Addams [signed]

P.S. Please excuse this hurried letter. I will write more later.
