My dear Miss Addams: --

It will certainly be a pleasure to do anything I can as an understudy for Mrs. Grover Clark. I will try to get in touch with her as soon as I arrive in China, which I hope will be about September 27th.

The idea of sending messengers of friendship to the women of China is a beautiful one, and I shall be glad if I am able to have a small part in carrying it out.

Thank you heartily for the cards of introduction to Mr. Burgess and Mrs. Wood, as well as to Mrs. Clark. A card of introduction from you will indeed mean much, and I am sure they would be delightful people to meet.

Please give my affectionate remembrance to Miss Balch, to whom, by the way, I am sending a copy of my book on International Government for the use of the League office.

Very sincerely yours,

Jessie Wallace Hughan [signed]
