WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

Hull-House, Chicago
May 10, 1927.

My dear Mrs. Clark,

As you see by the enclosed documents the Executive Board of the International Women's International League Meeting in the Liège passed the following resolutions.

I am venturing to send the resolutions to you thinking that you better than anyone else will know how to get them published, also I am sending a copy to Mrs. Zen who was very active in the Federation of Chinese Women when we were in Shanghai. I hate to bother you with what must seem like a futile gesture, but I am under orders as you see.

Now as to the next step as to sending two women to China to carry personally our "message of good will." I brought this matter up before the American annual Convention held last week in Cleveland. They voted unanimously that we should ask you to represent the American group and that we should allow you up to $400 or $500 in case you should have any expenses in China connected with giving this message to the women, especially if Madame Drevet comes over from France. I hope this does not seem to you like an imposition. It seems foolish to send someone over from America when you are already there and know so much more about it than anyone we could select could possibly know. You and your sister have been such good members of the W.I.L., I am sure if we had searched throughout the U.S.A. we could have found no one better than you are.

The reports we get here in regard to China are still somewhat puzzling. You and Mr. Clark did a very fine piece of work when you were here.

With cordial greetings to both of you, I am

Devotedly yours,

P.S. If you think it wise the Manifesto, of course, could be duplicated and send out to various women's organizations.
