Dear Miss Addams:
Absence from the city has prevented my answering your letter or inquiry of October 6. I thought that Miss Flynn had written you as well as Madeleine concerning the action of the Fund on the future support of Pax.
In adapting a program of setting aside funds for future use -- since we have come to the end of our resources -- the sum $2400 was designated for that magazine, i.e., $1200 a year for a two year period and is not conditioned upon raising an equal amount elsewhere. We will want to know from you just how the money can best serve the purpose of bringing the magazine to a self supporting basis as fast as possible with this help.
I am mighty sorry not to see any chance of being in Chicago before I go to Europe in December. Is there any chance of your being in the East? I would make almost any effort to see you if you are within reasonable hailing distance.
Dictated but not signed.
P.S. I find that Miss Flynn notified Mrs. Florence S. Taussig, regarding the action of the Board and am enclosing a copy of her letter herewith.
Encl.
