Arthur Garfield Hays, Esq.,
[43] Exchange Place.
My dear Mr. Hays:
The National Security League has handed me the complaint which I sent them after service upon me. This service was improper as I am not an official of the League, but merely Chairman of its Board, which is a non-official title.
In connection with this matter, I would like to say that Mr. Cashman did not speak on behalf of the League at the time complained of, and that if he had, the League would never have authorized the attack.
Under the circumstances, it would save me some trouble if you will consent to the withdrawal of the name of the League as a party defendant, and I trust that you will be able to do so. Will you let me hear from you at your earliest convenience?
Yours very truly,
(Sgd) S. Stanwood Menken
