Biographical Text

William T. Brewster was a Harvard educated professor of English literature at Columbia University in New York for over forty years. Although he was primarily focused on being a professor, Brewster was also the dean of Barnard College for five years, and provost for thirteen years. He retired from being a professor in 1943. Brewster died in 1961.

William Brewster married Anna Mary Richards in 1905. Together, the couple had one son who did not survive childhood.
